Ok the issue isn't quite what I thought it was. Can you MD5 the kernelcache please? You may need the md5sum utility from coreutils if doing this on your device. Can you also tell me what options you ticked when jailbreaking with redsn0w? Thanks.

I only checked Install Cydia and enable battery percentage

I just selected option in Install Cydia, Disable Multitasking, Disable Wallpaper, Disable Bettery Percetange

We've already established there's an issue with Redsn0w 0.9.6b2, use b1 on wait for a fix.

The version of OpeniBoot on the homepage still lists 0.1.2. I want to change it, but I don't have wiki editing permissions. I understand why, to prevent vandalism of the site, but it should probably be updated by someone with those permissions.

It *is* possible to install openiboot 0.1.3 without bootlace at this point, right?

It hasnt been changed there, solely because nobody has had the time to compile the updates and distribute them! (Damn Bootlace!), I'll hopefully get some time to do it tonight, but yes you can install it manually

Are there any plans to support sn0wbreeze 2 (from ih8sn0w.com)? It's the only JB I can use on my windows box that allows me to keep my baseband unlock (my understanding is that it's basically a windows version of PwnageTool). Besides that, I am very excited to see some great progress. Thanks

today was the first day i install openiboot !!!
it worked at the begining but after a reboot of froyo it boots directly and only on console with a  Welcome to Open iBoot at the bottom,but i fixed it ( i have an iphone 2g 3.1.3)
if someone else have this isue just:
open the iphone
then just load oibc like you would to install open iboot (try searching this forum on how to)
then type in setenv opib-hide-menu false
it will repeat something
then type saveenv
it will say saving enviroment
once thats done type reboot and vialo boot menu is back

after this every thing worked like a charm soo a big THANK YOU is legitime
now just waiting for the next idroid release XD

I have restore and used redsn0w_win_0.9.6b1 to load custom jailbroken 4.1 firmware, still getting compatibility error.  Any suggestions?

If your 'custom' firmware includes a modified kernelcache then thats where the issue is

so then is there any solution?

All I can really suggest is that you use a stock IPSW (Our hashes are verified against those)
