Bootlace / Re: Problem with zephyr2.bin - iDroid won't boot
« Last post by PolrBear on February 07, 2012, 05:47:50 PM »
Thanks for the reply.  I re-jailbroke the phone with redsn0w 0.9.6b4, which I believe is the oldest version that supports by 4.2.1 firmware.  Unfortunately, I'm getting exactly the same results as before when trying to install iDroid (which I removed because it wasn't even trying to boot after the re-jailbreak).  Is there a next step you can suggest?

I've tried two cables and several USB-Ports on two different computers - same result. And I've got another 3G, it connects without any problem.

I think I should wait for my neighbor. He is on a job, but he uses apple instead of windows, maybe this is more compatible.

Then that would suggest that there is a hardware issue rather than a software one, either the cable or the USB port it is plugged in to are likely candidates but could also be the dock connector on the device.

I tried to uninstall openiboot, but same problem: I can not get a connection to the iphone. USB does not recognize the device, and typing "oibc" in the shell just leads to "Failed to open OpeniBoot connection (2)". I did everything exactly as described in the tutorial.

Yeh there's an issue with iPod Touch 1G and Apple's servers. Other devices work fine still.

You can contribute to the S5l8900 side if you want.. Just hit us up in IRC and ask around (would recommend some background knowledge of how to do general computer stuffs though, and knowledge of Android itself would be a bonus...)

Firstly, I agree with nick here definitely LOL.. Secondly though, I do believe this project hasn't quite been around for two years although I'm sure we are around five or six months off of that number and thirdly your spelling and grammar has all the perfection of a twelve year old (maybe you are one, if so I wouldn't be surprised).

Now whilst your feedback is interesting (see: bullshit) it really betrays the depth of your ignorance. If you had perhaps paid attention you would have seen that the iPod Touch 2G was being worked on by kleemajo who recently gave up the work he was doing as it was too demanding (see: helping people and effort) and he has other commitments (see: life). Also it seems to me as if you really don't appreciate how difficult it is to run Linux on an iPod Touch 2G, or any Apple device fort that matter, it isn't a walk in the park, you don't just press a few buttons or write a few nondescript lines of code. Much of the work that has gone into OpeniBoot has taken a long time because it is difficult, complicated and requires lots of hours of demanding manual work to implement. So I happily invite you to have a go running that 'piece of shit' on your iPod which you have been 'filling' with 'they crap', just don't come bitching here when you don't appreciate the effort, don't have an actual issue and when no one is going to give a shit about what you have to say.

Try an older kernel, there was something up with the kernel on the 1st gen in the very last release.
