Vote on button configuration

Myself and nickpack have been working on software buttons for iDroid the last few days, and we've been thinking it might be a good idea to revamp the entire button configuration to make it more user friendly. Below are the current options we have in mind (note that the software buttons are listed in no particular order)

If you have any suggestions, please vote "Other" and post your idea below. Keep in mind your idea must take into account that iPod Touch 1G users have no volume buttons, and all the functions listed must be implemented in some way.

Option 1:

• Home Button = Menu
• Power Button = Back
• Volume Up = Call/Send
• Volume Down = Home
• Home Button and Power Button together = End Call/Power
• Software Buttons = Call/Send, End call/Power, Home, Vol+, Vol-

Option 2:

• Home Button = Back
• Power Button = End call/Power
• Volume Up = Home
• Volume Down = Menu
• Software Buttons = Call/Send, End call/Power, Home, Menu, Vol+, Vol-

Option 3:

• Home Button = Back
• Power Button = End call/Power
• Volume Up = Vol+
• Volume Down = Vol-
• Software Buttons = Call/Send, End call/Power, Home, Menu, Vol+, Vol-

Option 3 all the way, though one small change for it, would be to add like a Long Press on the home button to send you to the home screen, but leave short presses for back.  Power button should just stay as the power button, leave software buttons for answer call and end call.

Same here, but I also want the ability to go straight to the home screen, as hitting back in a browser app tends to make it go back a page. lol

Option 3 for iPhone, but for iPod I would like something like
Home button: Home
Power button: back or menu
Soft buttons: volume

Option 2 for me but its just a matter of practicality, I don't play much music with iphone and I always have call volume up high so I prefer home and menu.
Would it be to hard/unpractical to be able to change button config on the fly? Also maybe during a call, volume buttons could become volume buttons and switch back when hangup ?
But I think it's basically how you use your device that affects button layout and there's no perfect combo without sacrifices unless someone comes up with an easy hardware mod

I'd go with 3, just to change, simgle home press - back, double press - menu.

Would Like option three with a few changes:

sleep button on iphone (top thing) is the power button on android
long press home is equal to menu
short press home is direct home
vol up + down = volume up and down
and the mute equal to sleep (muted would be sleep, unmute is wakeup)
Mute is pretty much useless, just put volume all the way down to get mute. Android devices don't even have dedicated mute.

For the iPod Touch 1G I suggest leaving the current configuration for menu and back but allowing you to press both together to serve as the home button. Not many options with only two buttons on the device...

I retract my previous choice.

I would like this.

sleep = power off
single short press home = home
long press home = menu
double press home = back
vol up / vol down = vol up / down.
mute is an extra one (configurable).

This method would benefit everyone. (easy to use, works with all models including itouch etc...)

I also found that there is a button remapper app on android.
Would that work for idroid, or is it translating the presses on a more fundamental level?
