Hard Resetting In Console
« on: February 02, 2011, 09:24:55 PM »
Hey, first post here.

Basically just a tutorial on what I did to help solve this issue of not being able to reboot iOS after a hard reset while being in the OpeniBoot console. I was doing this on iOS 4.2.1, baseband 05.15.04.

1) Turn off power to device
2) Make sure device is connected to computer
3) Open up jailbreaking software (I used Redsnow 0.96b5 in this case)
4) Go through normal procedure
5) ?????
6) Profit! You are done. And should be fixed and ready to boot iOS all over again

I never lost anything when doing this, I didn't even have to resync my iPhone 3G.

Well, if you didn't know, rejailbreaking in the same OS twice is dangerous, might even cause some apps to not open and Cydia and other apps to crash. redsn0w jailbreaks the device and then takes it out of DFU made. Obviously, what you did was hard reset it and then keep holding the Home button, thereby putting it in DFU mode.  ::)
Meh. You wouldn't care.
