failure to reboot after installing openiboot on ipod touch 2g MB 4.1

I use Linux and i install openiboot onto my iPod touch. in terminal i type reboot, my iPod screen flashes but it does not reboot. how do i install it? Do i have to restore my iPod before installation?

You can't install OpeniBoot properly yet on iPT 2G.  Not yet fully working/compatible.

i kinda have the same problem i installed openiboot onto my ipt2g mb 3.1.3 after i typed reboot. it shut off and now won't turn on. i was wondering if theres a way to correct this issues or do i have a nice paperweight?

DFU Restore.

Again, you cannot install OpeniBoot on iPod Touch 2G at the moment.

ok i tried that but it wont turn on and the buttons wont response to anything i do to it.
any other ideas??? or do i have a paperweight?

DFU will never show anything on the LCD screen, it will always be a black screen.  Or do you mean you finished the DFU restore?

If you cannot put it in DFU restore, then you're screwed.  But DFU should always work as long as you do it properly and iTunes says it has detected a device in Restore mode.

Make sure it is plugged into the computer, it is often hard to guess when the LCD doesn't work, but iTunes should recognise it when it is in DFU mode.

if u get stuck after the reboot stage in the linux terminal log on to windows. Use the program "iReb" to put it into dfu and restore. This is the only way to access your ipod after the failed installation.

Not technically true, it is one of the ways to solve DFU woes, but I much prefer plugging it into iTunes rather than running anything on it if a DFU loop occurs.

i figured out after you type in reboot. press the power button on the top when it is off for 5 seconds. then let go and press thee up volume button. the device will reboot but openiboot will not be install. u have to do use the power button and volume button every time you wish to turrrn on your device again

Aside from its inaccuracies it sounds like you have an older version of the iPod Touch 2G OpeniBoot. Try cloning the latest from git and you should get LCD as it turns on. Pressing vol up was the workaround kleemajo put in place to ensure that it was possible to boot the iPod into iOS with OiB installed
