[SOLVED] New User-Openiboot error
« on: July 02, 2011, 08:54:10 PM »
I used redsn0w 0.9.4 and have Cydia 1.1.1
iOS 3.1.3
Bootlace v2.1.6

When I try to install OpeniBoot it says "Downloading Firmware" then a Error appears.

"Error
Install failed.
Firmware could not be retrieved
from Apple."

Any help would be appreciated.

I got this working by following the directions on
http://www.idroidproject.org/wiki/Installing_OpeniBoot

Albeit, there were some inconsistancies with the flow of the steps.

Suggestion to read more that 3 times before doing anything.

Only Apple can answer why we can't get the firmware from their servers.

It only stops at Welcome to OpeniBoot because you aren't doing anything.

Have you run oibc on your computer/PC and entered the install command?

Since the Windows Preparation section mentions to download the zip and install, Steps 3, 4 & 5 are not be needed. However, step 6 should read something like place the openiboot.img3 file in the install location i.e. C:\program files etc.

What Mac OS are you using?  The link on the wiki is for Snow Leopard (10.6.5) and up
