Do not ask for ETAs. Check the github (https://github.com/iDroid-Project) for updates on what they have done so far.

- Prepare your iPod Touch 2G in Recovery mode and load OpeniBoot:
Turn your iPod Touch 2G on and plug it to the USB cable.
Now turn it off, after Screen gets black, press and hold the Home button.
Your iPod Touch 2g should restart (you should see the Apple Logo)
After some seconds you should see the "Connect to iTunes" (You can stop holding the Homebutton now

what do you mean by load OpeniBoot? this is my first time using Linux/Ubuntu. please answer (: thank you!

Worked flawlessly with my iPod Touch 2G 8GB on 4.2.1 jailbreaked with redsn0w 0.9.6b5
Explain to me exactly how to do this because I have the exact same device and it won't work. My main problem is that is that I can't load openiboot. I jailbroke through sn0wbreeze. I can't remember the version.

You have the exact device but not the same jailbreak.  I'm not sure (as I do not have an iPod Touch 2G to test with) but sn0wbreeze does not seem to be compatible (it's not listed on the first post).

Thanks. So will it ever work?

What I want to know is how to load openiboot. The file location might work because there are a lot of things that say openiboot after following these steps.  :(

Wait? If you say lots of stuff saying openiboot and following the instructions from the first post (loadibec, etc), then you have loaded openiboot.

If you want to install it, alas that is not possible at the moment. Maybe in the future (unknown time, please do ask for a specific date).

Yes, I meant install. Wrong word. Sorry about the confusion.

what do the ./..././ in the code mean. mine says unable to locate area

It means moving up a directory, if you do not know how to do this I suggest that you do not need OpeniBoot
