iDroid iPad 2
« on: March 29, 2011, 05:54:54 PM »
Hello,

Since there's no bootrom exploit (yet) available, i thought that it would maybe possible to port iDroid to it with userland jailbreak, because there were many sources (like this http://www.techpetals.com/userland-idroid-installation-android-on-iphone-4-coming-soon-2257) who said that it's possible to accept NOR images trough userland jailbreak. Is this correct, or do we still need to wait until a bootrom exploit?

Thanks in advance,

Vincent

First of all, NORs are not used anymore in newer Apple Devices. The iPhone 3Gs was the last to have a NOR. It's all NAND based now. Second, a userland jailbreak can not be used to run the linux kernel, let alone Android. Furthermore, there are absolutely no drivers written yet for the iPad 2. Why can't people understand that NO DRIVERS + NO LOW LEVEL EXPLOIT = NO ANDROID ON THE DEVICE!!!!  >:(

Do your research right before posting. Sorry if I'm being mean, but I get annoyed when I see posts like these:

Firstly, take caution when reading news articles about the progress of porting, especially when these sites/sources are not affiliated with the iDroid Project. Sources that are reliable are this site and the twitter accounts covariant mentioned above.

Secondly, the development team does not have access to an iPad 2. No porting can be done until they can play with one.

What ddominator said, and also, without a bootrom exploit developing a complete openiboot port will be very difficult as the time taken to test a new build will be several 100 times longer than current methods.

Oké, thanks for the info, and sorry, i didn't do my homework very good, i could've known That they are using NAND now. So it's just wait until a bootrom exploit, wich will most likely be released after the iphone 5 launch?

No worries mate.

If one is found before then that is usually how it goes, yes.
