[SOLVED] Hard reset in oibc, now I can't boot into iOS ?

Everything was normal, just using iOS, I wanted to restart my phone so I held down both buttons and without thinking I guess I held it down too long so when it reached the menu it went to console and then booted into console.

I had never booted into console and I didn't know what to do, so I did another hard reset. Then I tried booting into iOS, but when I do it just hangs on the Apple logo for a minute then the carousel flash loader appears for a bit, then it tosses me back to the OpeniBoot menu.

I am aware that hard reset is totally not recommended for when in Android, but is it the same thing for when in console? Did I just totally screw up my iOS?

I haven't synced my phone in a couple of months so this would be a huge disappointment if I have to reset it

Hard reset is never recommended.

What I can recommend is to try a normal restore in iTunes. If that doesn't work, try a DFU.

It looks like your iOS file system got messed up because of hard reset.

So there's really nothing else to try? I just have to restore to my last backup?

And just so I know for future reference- what should I have done rather than hard reset once I accidentally went into console?

In oibc, you should have connected iphone to usb, then ran oibc in your computer. Then enterred commands reboot or shutdown.

I had an endless reboot loop a few times on my phone, once had to restore with itunes,  but a few times after letting it reboot 10-15 times it eventually booted in "safe mode" on it's own. Just in case I would let it try for at least 30 minutes.

I'm really not sure what to do at this point. I'm trying to get iTunes to recognize my phone so that I can restore it, but I can't get into iOS. I've tried to get into DFU but here's the thing- right now when my phone boots up, if I select iOS then it hangs for almost 10 minutes before tossing me back to OpeniBoot. If I select Android it takes about 5 minutes to get in.

So when I try to get into DFU and it doesn't work, then (because I'm holding down the buttons) it goes into iOS and I have to wait, then after it reboots I have to wait for it to load Android just to shut it down and try again. And, I accidentally went in console again (trying to DFU) so I hard reset it again... is it bad to do it again or is the damage already done?

So I guess really what I want to know is- is there an easier way to get iTunes to recognize my phone so I can restore?

Whatever OS you go to (console, iOS, android), as long as you are performing DFU correctly, DFU will trigger.

I thought what I had to do is turn the phone off, then hold power and home for 10 seconds, then hold just home for 4-8 seconds until the computer recognizes it... and the screen is supposed to remain blank right? so I'm not supposed to be in any OS, no?

Just do the steps for DFU and ignore whatever OS it boots until you go into DFU/Black screen.

Yeah so I don't know what I was doing wrong before, I think I had the timing off, but once I got the DFU then iTunes recognized it so I downloaded the 3.1.2 ipsw and got it going with that.

Too bad I lost a couple months of stuff since last backup but oh well. Thanks for the help!
