The ipod just keeps the itunes icon with a usb plug. never changes, flashes, reboots nothing.
Even the first time, when I had some output in terminal nothing happened on the ipod.

Is there a way I can verify OIB is on the device. Like a directory path?

did you use "PLATFORM=IPOD2G make openiboot.img3" to make the OIB?

I will get back into ubuntu tomorrow and I will put my compiled OIB on mediafire if u wanna look at it. I am pretty darn sure it's correct.

I just want to know I can boot the thing before I start to work with it. Although my area of expertise is android.

To be clear, openiboot will -not- work with Spirit as no patches to iboot are made. Also, openiboot will -not- work with any teathered jailbreak as they don't have iboot patched until you boot them. I will, however, be making a teathered-helper payload to prep your device for openiboot when you're on a MC model and this will help ipt3g users get started porting as well.

Also, the state of things right now are this:
1. I'm having to reverse and understand how the clock on the s5l8720 system works.. that takes time
2. I'm also having to do other work so that I can keep money coming in (iphone apps and such...), so unless other income hits me, i can only invest so much time

But I am working as often and as hard as I can on getting this up and running asap :D. I will also be using my twitter for status updates... http://www.twitter.com/Jaywalker9988 for anyone who wants to follow

Thanks Jaywalker. We support you a lot in this. ipt2g running android would be amazing.

One quick question: I have jailbroken using quickfreedom with putting in DFU, patching the pre-JB as they call it, and restoring a custom ipsw. Do I need to re-jailbreak with blackra1n for this to work?

@jenkem110 Quickfreedom also works for 3.1.2 even if it says only 2.x, it worked for me! :D

Yes but sometimes old works rather than new... Like an older firmware might bring out new exploits on a 2G device rather than a patched later firmware.
