Well you have to keep switching wifi on/off and maybe airplane mode also, sometimes it takes me up to 15 tries but usually around 3-4 or so, but it should eventually work.

iPhone 3G / Re: Hard reset in oibc, now I can't boot into iOS ?
« on: December 22, 2010, 02:57:20 PM »
I had an endless reboot loop a few times on my phone, once had to restore with itunes,  but a few times after letting it reboot 10-15 times it eventually booted in "safe mode" on it's own. Just in case I would let it try for at least 30 minutes.

Grats on the new release ! I hope it's not just patches and workarounds this time  :P
I just installed it manually and it booted on first try. Wifi works without dns issue. Cannot test calls, no credits in my account.
Cannot connect using adb, will keep toying with it.

I guess that's our holiday gift from the dev team, thanks ! It just seems more stable every time.

Data is disabled because it is not working properly. So 3G and 2G are not working on iDroid at the moment.

From what I understand, I though 3G and 2G are for both voice and data, meaning you can have 3G on but data off. (thats my iphone settings since I have no data plan) So I'm just wondering when you say 3G and 2G are disabled, do you mean completely ? As in when we call with idroid it's old gsm analog or is it only the data part of the 3G that is not working ?

Even us end users also realize that its gets better and "smoother" with each version and it doesn't seem to be just workarounds. It always seems more stable and less buggy, battery life gets better, new options become available, etc. I'm glad that the devs don't wait 1 year to release each update ! I guess you could skip a few versions so the changes will be more meaningfull when you upgrade.

To all particitants in this great project, props I say to you !

Is it the same bootlace you had installed before removing plist? because if it worked before and you didn't rejailbreak, it should still work, try reinstalling bootlace.

what version of redsn0w did you use to jb ?

Try resetting network settings, try reinstalling ultrasn0w, try uninstalling any toggles like sbsettings bossprefs for 3g, edge, etc. (that could cause conflicts when one's on and the other off), try 2G with data off, switching airplane mode on/off a few times.

My 3G had antenna problems when I got it off some guy for real cheap, believe it or not restoring firmware and unlocking it made it work.

General discussion / Wifi working very well after firmware restore

I just upgraded my 3G to iOS 3.1.3 using pwnage tools 3.1.5. Bootlace 2.1.4, OpeniBoot 0.2 and idroid 1.0.4 all work fine. What's more, even though I had to configure dns manually, wifi now connects 9/10 times.

Also on a similar subject, shouldn't we start a post with all the different devices, basebands, iOS ver., jb tool version used etc, as that would help eliminate all posts about "is my device supported". People would still have to read it though...

@campi: well jack's suggestion to configure advanced settings manually worked for me, are you sure you used the correct dns from your isp ? did you try to ping a website directly with it's ip to make sure internet works ? maybe reinstall wifi driver, or revert to 1.0.3 as a last resort...

Off topic / Re: Mozilla Fennec on idroid
« on: December 05, 2010, 06:27:14 AM »
I was just wondering becaue it does not even work on all devices that run android, and obviously they don't even mention idevices in the reqs or supported hardware.

Tried armv6 version and installed ok but when run freezes up device needing hard reset.

General discussion / Re: Vote on button configuration
« on: December 03, 2010, 10:10:26 PM »
Option 2 for me but its just a matter of practicality, I don't play much music with iphone and I always have call volume up high so I prefer home and menu.
Would it be to hard/unpractical to be able to change button config on the fly? Also maybe during a call, volume buttons could become volume buttons and switch back when hangup ?
But I think it's basically how you use your device that affects button layout and there's no perfect combo without sacrifices unless someone comes up with an easy hardware mod :)
