[running_onDroid]

I've successfully installed GApps on my Froyo iPhone 2G.

Thing is I'm running Froyo v4 and when I try to install applications from the Market they don't install.

I get "install unsuccessful" in the status bar.

I used Bugless Beast 0.1.

Depends on what apps you're installing. Some apps are incompatible with 2.2.

Also some apps require certain libraries.

You could also be running out of free space.

Does SDcard work?

I've tried install a pretty basic app. Facebook.

I could be running out of free space? But I don't know how. I've had Froyo v3 and iDroid 1.6 installed with no application problems.

I'm not sure if it works or not. In the SD menu it does say I can un-mount the SD card but I'm not sure if that means it works or not.

The SD settings menu also says that I have 7.06GB - Total Space, 6.67GB Available space, and Internal phone storage has 58.1MB Available Space.

I just got v4 installed and am experiencing the same problem. The application i downloaded was LauncherPro. It downloaded fine (i think) but during installation it seems to never stop installing. I had everything working on 1.6 as well.

ok i noticed this too.

Before running market, connect via ADB, then ADB shell.
In Shell do these commands:

Code: Select all

cd sdcard

Code: Select all

chmod 777 download

Code: Select all

chown root download

Well make sure SDcard is working first.

If it still doesn't work: please do a logcat and put it on pastie then put the link here.

I actually figured this out yesterday. Although I didn't ADB into Android I used WinSCP, while on iOS and changed the permissions of the Android folder to 777 just as you did and all is well now. I still haven't been able to get my music working yet. Do I need to make an actual music folder? Instructions say to drop music in private/var/mobile/media and it still doesn't show up?

Ok i got the installation to work using running_onDroid's tip.. however I don't know if I'm using the SD Card. How can I make sure I am? Thanks again for fixing the main problem though!

Go to Settings -> SD Card and Storage

You should see the actual space and free space used by SD Card. If it says something GB, you have SD card emulation.

If it doesn't, then you are not.

Ok I definitely have SD card emulation then. How do i make sure that when I download apps that they install to the SD card and not to the 50 mb of internal storage i have? I tried to go to manage applications but the option is greyed out to transfer to SD card.

As far as I know, that will depend on the App. Some apps will automatically install to SD card and some to memory.

Apps that use widgets (facebook, twitter) all have to be installed to memory.

Apps like Google Sky maps (which don't work, don't bother installing it), will install to SD card.
